Chelsey Sveinsson: (The Greenhill School) 2009 TTFCA Girls Athlete of the Year.  Sveinsson just completed her sophomore season as one of the nation’s top runners.  She earned Top Female Athlete at Texas Relays for the second-consecutive year, set national sophomore records in the 1500 (10.04.85) and the mile (4:40.24).  She won the mile at Penn Relays and the 800, 1600 and 3200 at the SPC Championships.  She finished the 2009 season with the nation’s #1 times in the mile, 3000 and 2-mile run.  She also represented the US at the 6th annual IAAF World Junior Championships in Italy.

Marquise Goodwin: (Rowlett) 2009 TTFCA Boys Athlete of the Year.  Goodwin, a University of Texas signee, completed his high school career as one of Texas’ most decorated track and field athletes.  He has won 12 medals at state meets and at the USATF Outdoor Nationals (June 20, 2009), he broke a 20-year old national mark by long jumping 26-10.  His 10.27 legal-wind 100-meter dash ranks #2 nationally by DyeStat, while his 49-10.50 wind-legal triple jump ranks 7th nationally.  In 2008, he represented the US at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Poland.
2010 TTFCA Athletes of the Year

Lauren Blackburn: (Dallas Sunset) 2010 TTFCA Girl's Athlete of the Year: Blackburn capped a fabulous senior season with a sweep of the 100 and 300 hurdles at the UIL State Championships.  Not only did she win both events, but she also set personal bests (13.39 / 41.08) while leading the nation in both.  [Her 300 time has since been surpassed.]  Blackburn has signed with the University of Southern California.

Mark Jackson: (Taylor) 2010 TTFCA Boy's Athlete of the Year:  Jackson, a UT commit, finishes his career as one of Texas' best jumpers of the last decade.  He won both the long and triple at the UIL State Championships, and also finished second in the state meet in the high jump.  He set the national standard in 2010 for the indoor triple jump (51-11) and the outdoor triple (51-05.75).  He also led the state of Texas in the long jump at 24-08.25. 
2011 Athletes of the Year
Jennifer Madu & Jaylon Hicks
Jennifer Madu earned several post-season honors, among them the Gatorade Female Track & Field Athlete of the Year for the state of Texas.  She earned all of Plano East's 29 points at the UIL state meet, including first place in the 100 and triple and second in the long jump.  She also won the gold at the IAAF World Youth Championships claiming top honors in the 100.  She earned a silver as part of the relay team.  Jaylon Hicks helped Galena Park North Shore win a second-consectuve state championship.  He blazed the 100 meters in a blistering 10.15 and ran on relays as well.  A senior, Hicks will be competing at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
